5 Great Spring Pickleball Things in New Jersey
Pickleball is fun to play throughout the entire year. But there's something special about playing outside (or at least having the option to ), and the spring is always the first season when we can finally get outside and play in some reasonable temperatures. Here are 5 great things about spring pickleball in New Jersey...
Heading Down the Shore: Sure, the ocean might not be as warm as it is in late summer, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy laying out on the beach. Start your day off with some pickleball, then head to the beach with a kite, a book, or your dog, grab some lunch in one of our amazing beach towns, and then wrap up the day with... more pickleball!
Cherry Blossoms: Washington D.C. isn't the only place where you can see cherry blossoms. Many of New Jersey's parks are home to cherry blossoms, including Branch Brook Park in Newark. With more than 5,000 cherry blossom trees (the most in any park in America), it's no wonder that it hosts the annual Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival in April. So play pickleball in the morning and then have a picnic next to a cherry blossom in the afternoon!
Bike Rides: While you can go for a bike ride any time of year, the idea of adding windchill to the already freezing temperatures doesn't exactly sound like a joy ride. But with the warmer weather, a bike ride to your local park pickleball courts now sounds like an amazing idea.
Botanical Gardens: We realize that not all of you are into flowers, and we know that we mentioned cherry blossoms above. With that said, the sprouting of flowers may be the defining characteristic of the entire season. So we're OK giving a shoutout to the tons of botanical gardens and arboretums that call New Jersey home. And don't worry, you don't have to spend the whole day there -- obviously begin or end your day with some pickleball.
Minor League Baseball: We all know what the best sport in the world is 😉, but we can still appreciate other ones. While New Jersey isn't home to any MLB teams, it has several minor league teams, which is arguably better because you can get up close and personal in our intimate stadiums, and the tickets won't cost you and arm and a leg. Combine a game with some morning or evening pickleball, and you've got yourself a perfect spring day.
