Pickleball Popularity by State – Where Does NJ stand?

It’s well known that pickleball is sweeping the nation – but which
states are leading the way? And where does the Garden State rank in terms of pickleball popularity? Let’s take a look…

Pickleball Insights conducted a study looking at factors including
total # of courts and facilities by state and per 100k people. It also
took into account the number of school facilities and percentage of
public facilities. According to that study, New Jersey ranks #20 out
of 50 states (not too bad), with 47 facilities and 2.4 courts per 100k
people. For some context, our neighbors New York (93 facilities) and Pennsylvania (74 facilities) have 1.8 and 2.0 courts per 100k people, respectively. (In other words, Jersey for the win! – at least in that category.

Another study conducted by Solitaire Bliss set out to determine
states’ pickleball obsessions by analyzing Google search data.
According to that study, New Jersey is tied in 9th out of 50 states
when it comes to most pickleball-obsessed, – and it ranks 3rd in
highest growing pickleball interest.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. After all, it’s probably safe to
say that some warmer weather states like Florida and Arizona are a bit further along in their pickleball development than we are. Other big pickleball states include Texas, California, and wait for it…

Utah?!!

Yes, Utah has the highest number of courts per 100k people, and
according to a recent Apple watch study, it has the greatest amount of pickleball popularity per capita.

But back to New Jersey… good job on your pickleball obsession. Keep up the good work!
